So the guy who was proven innocent of ball-tampering is slammed with a 4-match ban for an action that was a direct consequence of Mr. Hair making what have now been proven false accusations against him. And what does the man who sought to tarnish the reputation of one of World Cricket's greatest and most likeable cricketers and a true genteleman get ?
Nothing.
Oh yeah, perhaps $500000 ? Wasn't that what he wanted ?

He'll get either 'abuse' or 'retirement'.
Can't see crowds ignoring something like this.
Im writing this after his removal from the ICC Elite Panel.
Had he not written that stupid letter, and had the only issue been his actions during the Oval Test, he would not and in my view should not have been banned.
If you read the judgement, there has been no suggestion from Pakistan that Hair acted maliciously or in a prejudiced manner. None of Darrell Hair's onfield decisions have been reversed. The 5 run penalty stands as does the result of the game.
As the ICC said in its statement, they lost confidence in Hair, and that was down to the bizarre letter that he sent requesting his own removal and demanded severance pay.
This is a cricketing issue - and the sad comment is that apart from the ICC, everyone else has seen it as a political one. England, Australia and New Zealand saw it that way, when they voted for Hair inspite of that letter he sent, Pakistan played it that way when they attempted to get a trial by media -
The ICC did a fine damage limitation job id say.
