Finally ...

It is confirmed that Sourav Ganguly will not be playing in Kanpur and the team can go about its business of taking a lead in the series keeping away all the distractions. All the best to Rahul Dravid. Although he is doing a temporary job, and has done it before with reasonable success, he is now more than ever before closer to a permanent go at the top job. However, we can never say in Indian cricket.

Of course, if we lose there will be people who will be ready to say "We told you so - he is not captaincy material" and if we win , they will refuse him any credit whatsoever. It is a tough job, but he is a tough bloke and I have full confidence in him.

Yes, but as I have said earlier, its just not the right time to make him captain permanantly, simply because he is in such good form. We cannot afford to lose another world-class batsman to captaincy. The worst part is, apart from him, there's only Sehwag, who too is in the form of his life.

I wonder why Tendulkar still refuses to be captain. Whichever people he may have had issues with during his captaincy are no longer there, or was it becasue of someone even higher up in the BCCI? Not that he had any sublime captaincy skills, its just that there is no fallback at the moment.

I am now in favour of a non-playing captain using a radio, ala Woolmer - Cronje :). Of course, that will throw the cliche "catain's innings" out of the window :)
